Personal Touch Landscaping & Lawn Service is "Going Green"
Personal Touch Landscaping & Lawn Service is dedicated to preserving tomorrow by actively pursuing cleaner, environmentally friendly and more cost effective fuel alternatives. While not necessarily a renewable fuel resource, propane burns much cleaner than traditional gasoline. Personal Touch Landscaping is currently preparing test platforms on our mowers and fleet vehicles. Once thoroughly tested and proven, we intend to retrofit our entire mower fleet over to propane. Shortly after that, we will begin the process of retrofitting our fleet vehicles.
Once we have converted several of our fleet mowers and vehicles we plan on installing our own on-site fueling station. This will help cut fuel cost as well as leeching expenses traveling to traditional fueling stations to regularly fuel our fleet mowers and vehicles. The conversion will not be cheap, but we feel the long term affects and benefits of reducing harmful emissions and reducing waste will be well worth the investment.

Why Propane?
Propane (otherwise known as Liquefied Petroleum Gas or LPG) is a byproduct of natural gas processing and petroleum refining. In its natural state, propane is a colorless, nontoxic gas—at least 90 percent propane, 2.5 percent butane and higher hydrocarbons, and the balance ethane and propylene. An odorant is added to the gas so it can be detected for safety reasons. Under moderate pressure, propane gas turns into a liquid mixture, making it easier to transport and store in vehicle fuel tanks. Compared with gasoline, propane can lower carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and other toxic emissions. Propane is a certified clean fuel that creates 60 to 70 percent less smog-producing hydrocarbons than gasoline, and can help fleets like Personal Touch Landscaping make a difference in the air we breathe. Compared to gasoline, propane produces fewer greenhouse gas emissions and cuts emissions of toxins and carcinogens, such as benzene and toluene, by up to 96 percent.
Just to be crystal clear... we are not doing this because the Government says we have to. We are exploring the Propane conversion because we want to provide a cleaner and healthier environment for our community while reducing our dependency or Gasoline. Our fleet consumes and average of about 1,800 gallons of gasoline per month. We would like to cut that gasoline dependency by 75%.
